It invariably happens in cases where Japanese steamere are concerned that the mails are received in Shanghai in Advance of the steamera which carried them soross the Pacifio and, when the steamere omit the transshipped and seldom occupy call at Shanghai, the mails are more than four daya in transit from Yokohama to Shanghai. Maile dispatched from the United States by the Pacific Mail stoamera omit the call at Shanghai, and, in cases where they are trans-shipped, they are unnecessarily delayed in Japan and notinfrequently occupy nine days in transit from To hams to Shanghai, This is subject of great complaint, and anything that can be done to pre vent the annoyance will be ap preciated by the patrons of the office,"
