In 1906, the year before, the Tehuantepece Railrod was open- ed, Panama Railroad carried only six million dollars worth of goods. The larger growth has been in the westbound move. ment, the total we-t-bound traffic from the Atlantic and Galf frontage of the United States having been. 13 million dollars in 1907 and 87 million in 1913; whilst the eastward movement from Hawaii and Pacific coast, ports of the United States was eight million dollars in 1907 and 444 million in 1913. For this the Tehuante- pec Railroad has been mainly re- sponsible. Its west-bound freights were valued at six million dollara in '1007 and 65 million in 1913, and its east-bound freights at Bix million dollars in 1007, 49 mil- lion in 1912, and 36 million in 1913. Panama west-bound freights were valued at seven million dollars in 1907 and at 23 million in 1013; aast-bound freights at two million dollars in
1907 and at eight million in 1913. These figures include only mer- States ports, but bound, in ecme chandise originating at United:
