Happy Though Married. The organizers of a recent Simple Life Exhibition in Lon- don drafted six simple rules de- signed to promote happiness in" married life. These rules are in- teresting. There are three for the wife and three for the husband. The former are 85. follows: 1. Teach your husband to abstain from meat and intoxics- ting drink. 2. Receive him after. absence with trot. 3. Qultivate a sense of humour. The rules for husbands are: 1. Make a habit of entering your home with a amile. 2. Little presents, words of love, and compliments make a woman's life worth living. 3 Remember 'always that a woman works as bard as yon do, and in many cases harder. Thers di reotions have attracted attention in other quarters than the Far East, where, it is almost needless, to remark, connubial' jufélicity, among foreigners is a thing un- known. This being the case our discussion of these rules is purely academic.

The Revalt.
Though we are strongly of opinion that this misguided Re volt has its origin principally in the disappointment of a few well- known men, yet we would bɔ m luctant to assert that they are en- tirely actustad by celfish motives or animated by personal feeling towards President Yuan. The President is to paragon, and comS of his actions have not tran quite in keeping with Rspublicanidesle. Still, we hold that in opposing the President by means of plunging the county once more into the horrors of war, particularly as the deleterious effects of the last up- heaval have by no means passed away, the opponents of President Yuan ere not standing forth as the friends of Ohio, though doubtless they believe themselves to be so. It is therefore hoped, for the sake of the country a 3 whole, of a stable government and a progressive China, that this re•-- grettable revolt will be speedily overcome before it'assumes a more formidable appearance.

British Education. We should have liked to quota": frealy from Dr, Gray's book," but space forbids the pleasure. Enough has been done to indicate his teaching, and we welcome his contribution to a controversial subject of more than ordinary importance to English people, and especially to Colonists, who, like ourselves, are face to face with the realities of life at some dis tance from the centre of the
