Ninety Fathoms taken from

a Steamer,

Mr Melbourne granted a 're- mand this morning in a case brought before him at the Police Court, in which a man was cherg- ed with stealing ninety fathome of rope from the s.8. Conseulo whilst at anchor in Yaumati Bay.

It appears that three thieves went on board during the night and from the fo'cele head stole the rope which was valued at $50. Sergeant Wills made enquiries and the defendant was arrested.

Defendant told the Court that he went with the others on board the Conseulo about midnight. and after taking the rope they went back to the Yaumati Ferry Wharf. The other men then paid defendant $4 as his share and dismissed him.
