that we can now manufacture on our premises the new Kryptok Invisible bifocal Lens.

The old style of cement bifocals with their disfiguring and annoying dividing line has been supplanted by a new lens with two foci, the upper portion of the glass for distance and the lower for reading, ground from one single piece of glass.

You who wear two pairs of glasses may now use one pair instead. No one can tell that you wear bifocals. Nocement to blister; no thin segments to loss off.

Call and inspect this line. . We grind Kryptoks in regular or toric form.

The Largest oli Tank Steamer.

The reference in the House of Commons on Monday to the Maxi- can oil shares reminds of the vast potentialities of that country in oil, which is yet des tined to play a much more vital part than hitherto as a motive power. It has given prominence to the fact that recently consider. able interest was manifested in the passing into service of the San Fraterno, which is one of several several steamers built, for the transport of Mexican oil, se the vessel has a dead-weight capacity of 15,500 tons, which is greater than that of any existing oil-tank steamer. The vessel bos a length over all of 548 ft, and between perpendiculars of 530 ft the extreme breadth being 58 ft., and the depth, mouleed, 41f ft. There are twelve holds, which, again, are subdivided by contre-line bulkhead

into twenty-four compart- ments, all of which are fitted with steam-heating coils to facilitate the discharge of cargo. The pampa are the most powerful so far fitted, having a capacity of 1200 tons per hour. The vessel is propelled by quadruple expan sion engines, built by the Wall- send Slipway and Engineering, Company, Etd., England, and the steam is generated în four bailara fired by Mexican liquid fuel.

Daily Press.

Dangerous Buildings, We are not aware that any legal obligation rests upon the Government to institute the closest inquiries into the condition of every building in the Colony; which would need the constant employment of a whole army of building inspectors, for if the avidence given at. previous in- quiries proves anything it is that only by constant inspection and by a wholesale cutting into of walls is it possible to say that this..or that wall in. perfectly safe. Cases have been quoted in which the mortar used in one part of a wall was perfectly good, while in another part of the same wall it was found to be ab- solutely rotten. It is duly fair to the Building Authority to point out that the annual reports of the Public Works Department show. that the condemning of dan- gerous structures must form o by no means animportant part of the Building An thority's duty. The Report for last year has not yet been is- smed, but turning to the Report. for 1911 we find that notices relating to structares,in a danger ous condition were served in no fewer than 330 cases, which affords some proof that when defects are brought to the notice of the Department either by the building inspectors or any mem- ber of the public, there is no
