In the billiard competition which is in progress at the Sol-Japan io diers Club, for a cup presented

by the Hongkong Volunteers, a Straits and India via Calcutta fresh match was commenced lust night between the R.G.A. Team and the Staff and Departmentals. Two games were played both of which were won by the lattor team, who thereby gained a lead of 50 over their opponents.

The scores were as follow:

at 24 cents per picul, but im- mediately afterwards the local rice market collapsed, and the closing quotation once more nothing batter than 21 cents with little or no demand for tonnage. Itice exports during this season amount to total 419,- 452 tons compared with 305,228 tons during the same period of last year. Quotation for rice standa for June/July No. 2 White round siffed at $4.71 against $8:38 same period last year.

Saigon/Philippines-The last charter effected locally a month ago is about to be carried out now, and we hear of a Philippine owned boat having been chartered recently on basis of 45/48 ceats per picul to 1 option 2 ports of discharge respectively.

Saigon/Java-As a matter of fact, there have been fairly numorous onquiries of late for prompt and forward loading, and further business Saigon to Java, combined Java to Hongkong has come to pass on basis of recent

fixturer.

Bangkok-Cargo would seem to have become somewhat scares for the time being and "outside" tonnage offering was not placeable. Latest quotation is 40 cents per pical.
