In 1012 the mining department of the F. M. S. had à revenue of 11.1-2 million dollare, an increase of over two millions from the pre- ceding year, export duty realised $10,850,121. The high price of tin accounts for this, of course. The total output in 1912 was 813,472 pikul, as compared with 741,608 in the previous year, an increase of about ton per cent. Perak is the greatest producer, but Pahang shows the greatest

value of the tin was 84 million dollars, say ten millions sterling. The highest price realised was $115.65, the lowest $1.75 per pikul. The average sterling prica was £202.9.4 against £181. 0.101. in 1911. The total labour force in the mince was 211,400 against 198,427. "There was no variation in the
