London, April 30.
Mr. Asquith has announced that Lady Scott, widow of Command- ér Scott, of the ill-fated Antaro- tic Expedition, is to receive an annuity of £200 in addition to an Admiralty pension of $225, and a joint annuity of £300 will be paid to Com- »' mander Scott's mother and two sisters, while a similar annuity will be granted to the widow of Dr. E. A. Wilson and his sister- in-law.
The Indian Government, Mr. Asquith stated, will provide an annuity of £100 to the mother and sisters of Lieut. H. R. Bowers, while the widow of Petty Officer Evans will have 26 shillings week- ly in addition to allowances to her in children till they attain the age of 18 years.
Mr. Asquith, in a letter to the Lord Mayor of London, expresses the opinion that the annuities will leave room for an equitable aug- mentation of funds raised by the public.
It is pointed out that the rel- atives of Capt. L. E. G. Oates are not included, as he was wealthy and was not married.
