The Panama Canal. The chapter on the Panama Canal is so exhaustive that it calls for more than passing noteo.recommend to all "Telegraph" Shanghai and North China-Per

It is supplied by the Secretary of the Isthmian Canal Commission, and it tracos closely the growth of that wonderful ongineering undertaking from 1994 till the und of last year. Locks, dams-and- breakwaters aro ninately de- scribed, and details ne to every item of expenditure, from plant down to the cost of the workmen'e food, are furnished. Maps, dia- grams and photographs assist the reader in his search for informa-

tion, and the article closos with some carefully arranged tabular statements of distances etc.

From tho chaptor on wireless tolography wo may learn the enormous alridee that this re- markable discovery is making in America. An introductory jago gives, in a nutshell, the history of the development of the ccience; and then follows a prodigious list

of the wireless shore stations of the United States and Canada, aftor which of no little interest to the business man-comea a table of

frem charges various points in the States to Groat Britain.

Aviation. Aviation is dealt with by the well-known reiontist, Dr. A. F. Zalm, and his article is ore which could only have been write ten by a thoughtful man fully conversant with his subject. The first ecction touches tersely, al- boit sufficiently, on the history of soronautics Lom 1783, when the brothers Montgolfier made their crude experiments with a paper

readers, and we will even go so far as to say that no student, professional mau or business men should to without a copy.
