The Hongkong Bank The future of China, an essenti al factor in the Bank's prosperity, le now Assured, and with the settlement of the loan and the machinery of the Government in proper working order, there seems to be a future ahead of the Hongkong and Shanghai Bank- ing Corporation as glorious as its accomplishments of the past. The Corporation has experienced more than any similar institutions the up and downs attending the gradual development of foreign intercourse with the Far East; in spite of retarding influences and at times discouraging oppoai- tion it has continued to lead the van as a factor in national finance; to-day its position, supported by the fruits of a wise policy in augurated in early days and still tenaciously adhered to; is one of almost unassailable supremigoy. The Bank and ita shareholders have just reason for grajification and the Colony which gave birth to the enterprice is inten proud of its thriving öllspring.
