It would appear that the terri- ble news regarding the British Antaraotic Expedition, which was commanded by Captain Scott, is authentio. For some time past fears have been entertained of at least several of the party fears which appeared to have been well founded owing to the absence of letters or any reliable now of the Expedition. It is now e oditably reported that Captain Sitt and at least five of his cl'ongued have lost their lives in a blizzard which overtook them on the homeward Journey. The sym pathy which the King com- municated to the Royal Geo- graphical Society will be uni versally felt in the less of this coble band of scientists. Such loss, however, is but one more added to the number claimed by the fascination that seems to grip the minds of some men to fathom the mystery that still surrounds the extreme ends of the Earth.
