At the Police Court, this mor- ning, when a woman was brought befor Mr. F. A. Hazeland, on a charged of wasting water near Water Street, she complained that ..the Indian constable who arrested her, kicked her. She showed a mark on her leg,which he alleged had been caused by the kick. She admitted that she did not complain to the Inspector, at the station, of the assault.

Inspector Dymond said that was the first he had heard of the ns. esult. He did not think the con- atable referred to would commit sach an assault.

Chinese Seaman and His

Revolver.

A Chinese seaman who said he arrived in the Colony from Lon- don on the night of the 5th inst., was charged at the Police Court, on Monday before Mr. C. D Melbourne, by Inspector, Mac- 'donald_with_being in unlawful possession of a revolver and a small quantity of ammunition.

Defendant said he bought the revolver in London, in Limehouse, for protec ion up in the country when he arrived in China.

Defondunt:-I did not know this was an American make; bought it in London.

A fiue of $25 was imposed. and the revolver and ammunition were forfeited.
