Mosers. D. G. Robertson, Ltd. have secured the contract for the erection of the second section of the compound sorow pile wharf at Pert Sweltenham. The first seotion now under constructión, will be completed within a few months, and the second section in expected to be completed by October next. Considerably ovar 2,000 tons of stealwork has to be erected and both contracts will be erected simultaneously,

The following letter has been sent by the British Consul at Dalay to the Director of the Marine Office, in token of thanks for the assistance rendered by him to the Blue Funnel steamer. Patroclus:-"I am request by the Agents of Messrs. Butterfield and Swire as well as by the Mas tor of the British ship Patroolus to offer you their grateful ap preciation and thanks for the kind assistance you have lent them in connection with the mishaps which befell the ship in question during her voyago from Taku to Tairen."

Mr. Nagai Kyuichiro, formerly manager of the Yokohama branoh of the Nippon Yusen Kaisha, died suddenly on the 29th ultimo ati his residence in Tokyo. Bis younger brother, Mr. Oshima, Governor of Kangawa, had visited him in the morning, and they had spont three or four hours in conversation.
