arbitration case Tientsin, arising out of a collision in October last in the River Peiho between the C. N. Co.'s 8,8, Shengking and the Peking Mukden Line's s.s. Poping, has beon decided in favour of the China Navigation Company, the Poping having been held solely to blame for the accident.
Fall in Coasting Freight Rates.
An Osaka journal reports that. the freight rates in the coasting trado have fallen, the rate for coal from Moji to Yokohama having declimed from Yen 1.35 to 95 sen. There is a brisk demand for steamers in the Rangoon rice trade, the number required being greater than for some years past. at this season.
