We repeat what we have said before that it is the duty of every lawabiding Chinese citizen to give the police every assistance in this matter in order that they may lay hold of the persons who defy the law against intimidation, Ate they doing this? If not, why [not? If they had been doing this we suppose many more of there cases would have come into the police courts. There have been, in fnot, but few such cases, and we are unable to understand how it is that not only the leading merchants but the Chinese section of the Police Force, both detective and uniformed, and also the district watchmen, have failed to render any noteworthy service in this connection. When men who'sy. they would, but dare not, travel on the cars fail to bring to the notice of the police the persons who are alleged to inspire these fears, they must. themselves be held to be in БОГО dogreo responsible for the continuance of the boycott, and the Govern-. 'ment has no option but to meet the situation by some such measure as the Boycott Preven- tion Bill, which was presed through all its stages at yester [day's meeting of the Legislative
