That Bulgaria, Servia and Greece have refrained for a whole week from following the lead of Montenegro showe that they are animated by a sincere desire to exhaust all peaceful means of obtaining satisfaction of their de mands, but with nows of the Montenegrin successes against the Turk ringing throughout the Bulkan States, the danger of a general conflagration must hourly become more imminent. No sub- stantial ground for belief that the war will not sproad is afforded in the terms of the Porte's replies to the Notes addressed to, it by, tho Powers; and the only glimmer of hope, that remains is that the Powers may yet bring the Porte to seo that oven" if she should successfully emerge from a war with the Confederacy, the protection of Christians under Turkish control must be guarant od if peace is to be permanently ostablished in this region.
