The resolution to be moved by the Hon. Mr. H. E. Pollock at to |day's meeting of the Legislative Connoil serves to bring before the public once more the arying need for the establishment of a wiroless station in Hongkong. For somo years this colony has patiently bided the convenience of the Imperial authorities in re- gard to this important matter. Hopos have boon raised, dashed to the ground and raised again only to be finally crushed by the information that the erection of the long promised Imperialstation [in to bon“ postponed to a later date." In other words the pro spect of the Imperial Government adding a Hongkong link to the Empire chain of communications is a remote as ever. It appeam to us that in this matter the Home Government has bitten off more than it can chew and that when the Marconi contract comes up for ratification, as it must do shortly after Parliamoat meets, it will become the subject of muchi unpleasant criticism.

There is nothing more than a whisper of this at |present, but Turkey is shrowd enough to understand that, so far as the other Powers are concerned, - no other solution is possible, and this consideration posibly ao- counts for the stiff neoke l attitude Turkey has adopted towards the
