THE

SCIENCE OF advertisiNG.

Advertising is both a science and an art.

We

have studied that science.

Do you know the ART?

Can you write a catchy ad.?-very few can.

A good ad. is one that catches the eyes, then.

holds the attention.

Can you

do it? We can.

Let us write your ads for you, insert them in any paper you fancy, but let us write them for you, we like it, that will be our recompense. Choose your paper, put them in, watch results. ADVICE:-Insert them in the paper with the largest circulation-that is the secret of judicious advertising.

All the papers have the largest circulation, if you doubt it, ask them; then tell us, what they tell you.

The other fellow is losing all the money.

True; that is the reason he is able TO KEEP

UP the advertising rate i

THEY KNOW that the other fellow is losing money hand over fist, if YOU doubt it, ask them, they will tell you candidly; "it is quite true."

The cheapest ad, is the dearest. Why ? do you know your business and ask why?

Do you advertise because of friendship? No? To reach the people ? Yes, yes, that is the reason and it can only be accomplished by advertising in the paper that has the largest circulation. But if they all have the largest circulation, I must advertise in all the pa- pera ? Quite so, if you think.

Mr. Lloyd George's Land Reform Scheme.

In October, as fleutor informed 18 officially, Mr. Lloyd George, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, intends to begin wluit has been heralded as his "Great Land Reform Campaign.” Vry_con-. siderable interest, isturally being taken in the proposed reforms, the naturo of which it has long been predicted will be of a comprehensive obn- racter. The main outlines of the scheme are now known and from shem it will be soon that the "Ro- form" is pretty drastic. A tax of a penny or three-half ponce in the, pound on land values is to pro-

vido the sinows of war. With the millions realised from this source, according to Mr. Hem- merdo who is an ardent admiror af Mr. George, local rates are to bo rolioved of the great part of the burdens now rosting on them. Education, main roads, poor relief, police, and asylumas are all to be paid for out of the Imperial: Ex- YOUR EYES. choquer. Naturally the Conser vative Press is very bitter against the proposed legislation.: -

The Opium Traffic

In view of the statements which have been published during the past six months regarding the re- newed cultivation of opium in. China, one turns with more than ordiaury intarest to the reports of the Commissioners of Customs, 19 they are issued, to see what these have to say on the subject. It is in these official reports that one looks for the most sathontio information on the subject, 8 the Commissioners are in an excellent position to form judgment on the subject... In view of what is said in the reports of the various Customs Commissioners as to the doter mination of the Govorament to suppress the opium habit by the omnat drastic measures, it remains to be seen how much cultivated opium will be allowed to come DEPARTMENT into the markets. It would seem,
