They were in a terrible state, not having had anything to cat for several days, and no fresh water to drink. When we looked after them a bit and gave them something to eat they recovered. The junk was derelict, and so we set her on fire

A daring theft from the Indian por Museum was reported to the Calcutta police on March 21. That morning the curator of the Victoria Memorial Collection found that the glass case in which an India sita was kept had been broken open and the gold strings of the sita and køy used in tightening the strings, as also a grown shaped ornament surmounting the sita, had been etlen. The sita was one of thei first gifts to the Victoria Mem- orial Collection and it is al mystery how the thief managed to get at it, as the theft must have been committed in the day time.
