"It is a curious commentary on the native demand for a mint to turn out sovereigns, and the complaint that India is being de prived of its right to a gold dur ronoy, that plontiful supplies of gold, already minted in the re- quired form, aro streaming into the resuryo against the note issue.
"It looks as though the hugo imports of recent years have provided all the gold India needs as ourrency for present use, and it is difficult to 'sse what botter facilities a gold mint in Indio .could offer than the unrestricted import of sovereignt minted, free of cost to India, in Australia and London."
