CHINESE INDUSTRIES.
The tendency, to which the r volution has given an impetus, for educated Chinces of the younger school to go in for foreign clothing| seems to have given the alarm to home industries. The first of these to take the, matter to heart' are the silk merchante (says the "N.C.D. Now") who have held a meeting upon the subject. As a result of this meeting they have passed a resolu tion to the effect that while they have no objection to the catting off of queues, they consider that foreign dress should not be adopted by the Chinese. Their recommendation, which seems to he addressed to the country goperally, points out that if foreign dress becomes general it will mpan a considerable loss of money to the country.
