Singapore Share Market.

In their weekly-share circular, dated December 6, Messrs. Fraser & Co, atate:-

Sterling rubber shares have been firm and close with good domand but few sollers at our- rent quotations. In local shares the too has been steady with a fair enquiry for one or two de soriptions. Other sections aro quiet with a moderate business passing.

Rubber.-Malaccas have again advanced, the Ordinary closing | £10.18.9 buyers, while the Pro ference were taken at £10.15.0 with sellers now at £11. Merli- maus came to business at 3-4, Batang Malakas at 2s,, Duffs 11-6. Bukit Sembawanga have been in good demand round about 18. Lagoonies were placed at $7.40. Pegola at $26.50, Pajame - at $8.25 and Gloneslyant. $1.27 1-2. Henriettas are wanted

at $2 dis- 'count and Pantais at 80 coats. Singapore and Joboros arg strong at $0.

Mining-Belats are want- ød at $3.75. Kunabois came to business at $1.75 with further buyers and Rauba were placed at $2.50 Rahman Tins have buyers at $11,lind Sungei Gaus na $1,76. Tokkás ura firm st $23 with no shares offering.

· General.—Straits Trading aro steady with business, doing at $50.50. A few Steamships chang “ed hunds at $205. Singaporo Cold" Storages are firm at $20 buyers. Sholls finish firm at 81s. Muni- cipai 4.1-2 per cent. Debentures are wanted, but sollers are holding for 9 per cent. premium.

Oplum.

The Govorainont of India has issued a notification that the duty "on Malwa opium will be in-

oreased and that the right of] export from Bombay will in future be disposed of in public auction.

Passos were issued for about 15,000 chests on Malwa opium in oach of the years 1910 and 1911 and under the agreement with China the number of pusseN issuable for 1912 was reduced to 12,100. There was a grant rush by merchants in 1909 to take up the passes in advance where those for 1910 and 1911 and about one-third of the 12,000 allotted for 1912 had been issuod in this inunner, the Govern ment, as was recently stated by tho Finance Member in the Viceroy's Legislative Council, stopped further-issuss. An ad- ditional levy to Rs. 200 per pass was ordered on the 4,000 passes issued in advance for 1912, | purchasers boing given the alter- native of returning tho passos". for the original price paid for thom.
