Enst, H.M. Legation at Stockholm now report that a subsidy of £50,000 has been voted to the company for the five years ending. 1017, to meet the expense of the Suez Canal dues. It is stated that the company covers its ex- penses, but does not yet pay any dividend. The exporta from Sweden to the Far East have greatly increased, however, in recent years. In the three years 1008-10 the company's vessels carried 70,000 tons of merchandise to the Far East, chielly consisting of paper and wood pulp. Contracts already entered into this year for the shipments of these materials amount to 60,000 tons. The com- pany is adding two steamers to its fleet.
Tuo “Hankow Daily News" states that the Siamosa Steam Navi-- gation Co., Ltd, has been estab fished with a capital of Tes. 600,000 in shares of Tes, 100, to run beste on the rivers of Siam.
All the steamers of the European Lino are fitted with Wireless Telegraphy. New System of Telefunken.
