Leave Hongkong for Australia,

Colonel Bannerman's) direct supervision. He is of opinion that the organisms found by Major Rost and Captain Williams' were probably identical, the only differ enco is that Captain Williams growth is sticky, while Major Itost's is dry, The details given in Captain Williams' paperspecify" reaction in lopers and soli as is | produced by Professor Dyooke's and Major Rost's organism would scein to be strong evidence in favour of this view.-M. Mail.

CAPTAIN WILLIAMSK Captain Williams states that lie has devoted special attention to the leprosy problem and gives the results of his work since, 1000; - He says that in five cases, two in Persin and three in Bombay, two apparently different organisms, he had grown streptothrix some. what similar to that described by Professor Deycko, while in another special media he had grown a bacillus very similar to that grown by Mujor Itost.

SURGEON-GENERAL LUKIS, Surgeon-General Lukis, in a note introducing the Reports," states that a careful examination May 27th, at Noon. of Major Rost's cultures convinced him that Major Rost had succeed- ed in isolating and cultivating: organisms which possessed dis- tinotive characteristics, Major Rost was instructed to place lim elf in communication with Cap tain Williams and the result obtained by them, though not | regarded us absolutely conclusive, were yet of sullioient importance to justify their publication.

The above Steamers are fitted with Refrigerating Machinery, onsuring plentiful supply of Ies, Fresh, Provisions, etc., and are lighted throughout with Electricity. All State-Rooms have Electrio Fans. A daly qualified Doctor and Stewardess are carried.
