Their religion, consistont with tho many-compartment system of a Chineso mind, which oiablos him to hold idons actually con- tradictory to oach other, is made up of many elements, but at the base of all is Confucianism. Many come over as coolios, Darn a littlo money and return, and this continuous change naturally makes mis- Bionary work difficult. Tho Chinaman who makes. mich money stops.. points out the "Pall Mall Gazotte." Shareholders were to be called to gother on the 17th ust. to approve the scheme. In regard to the existing powers, c430,000 of the authorised issue of £500,000 is outstanding. But the capital ox- penditure is in excess of the amount provided by the dobon- ture issue, and to roplace this ex- cess and provide for furthor out- lay, in connection with a coking. plant and for other purposes, the Wing board wishes to create £250,000 of six por cont. second. mortgago debentures, and apparently the Fukui first issue will be ono of £50,000, which the directors say is already guaranteed, at 841 por cont, free of Bygja, charge. The circular adda that the results of the business, al- though showing a reduction, are entisfactory, notwithstanding the Mathilde, competition and unfavourable trade conditions in China. The not profits are said to be equal to 10 por cent. on the capital of the company, and an interim dividond of 5 per cont, actual is to be declared this month.
