On the 9th moon last year, H. E. Admiral Li Chun handed two prisoners over to the Num. Hoi | Magistracy. A strange coincidence No. 2 BEYMOUR TERRACE

was that both of them bore the same surnames and the samo namos. Ond was a native of Shanghai, and the other of Nam Hoi. Tho Shanghai man was sentenced to be deported to his native country, while the Nam Hoi man's punishment was one year's imprisonment. By mistake the Cantonese was sont to Shang- hai, and the native of the northorn settlement was imprisoned. Ton days afterwards, the mistake was discovered, and a tologram was despatched to Shanghai to linvo the man rearrested, but it was too late! Tho officials then wrote up to the authorities at Shanghai for the apprehensionof the oscaped prisonor. News has just reach ed here that the fugitive has been arrested, and is being sont back to Canton. On the arrival of the prisoner, the unfortunate man in the prison will be re ̈ leused.
