The Portuguese cruiser Parco da Gama, which had been in theas waters for close on two years, took her departure for Manila nariz this morning. Her salling would hava taken' place earlier in the week, bat owing to the typhoons, which had been hovering around for savoral days 'psat. It was thought prudant to dalay the cruiser's departure notil this morning.. The Vasco da Games was ordered on a special Commission.16 China early last year, and when she took her departure froth Lisbon it was not. thought that she would remain longer in the Far Buat than eight months. As it happened, however, the commission was prolonged con siderably beyond one year, twenty months to be exact. On her way out the Farco da Gama met with an accident in the roadstead at Singa pore which secessitated her being drydocked at Tanjong Pagar. She enjoyed the distinction of being the first freign vessel to enter Port Asthor after it was declared a commercial port by the Japanese. She was about to leave

for Lisbon after her extended tour. In" Japanisá water when the trouble at: Colowan led to bar recall South. The "crew of the Vasco da Gama, however, took no part in the campaign for the extermination of the pirate horde at Colowae. On her way to Portugal the erniser will visit the Portuguese possessions in Oceania. and Africa for the purpose of showing the dag. Her homeward Journey will occupy about four months.
