M. Tramiers version o the dispute was › sat forth at great-length by an eloquent member of the Marseilles Bar, Maitre Vitagliano, who explained that Mrs. Clarko bad repudiated the contract on the ground that she had been kept ia iguorance of the real character of the proposed expedition, to which contention be replied that she was fully cognisant of every detail;
The contract was signed lo Inso, 1909, and the expedition was to last seven or eight mouths, and was to be fisanced by Mís. Clarke- to the extent of £5,000, waile ad. Tramier was 1o be the leader of the expedition and to share equally with her all the profit. The main purpes: was to be the prosecution of pearl fiebing, of which M. Tramier bad great experi ence and pecial knowledge, but other busine Was to be conducted incidentally, including traffic in arms and ammonition.
Counsel declared that for some months the contrací was actually carried out by Mis Clarke. M. Tramier, after concluding it, re- turned to Marseilles and looked out for a kultable steamer; receiving in the meanwhile from Mrs. Clark the regular salary agreed upor, namely, Lap per month.
