CHEAP RICE DISTRIBUTION/ During the last few days the four sheds where cheap rice is being dhlributed bare boos, ip- vaded by thousands of people of the poorer classes to obtain their daily supply of the staple commodity. The proceeds realised from the sale of cheap rice at the four sheds on the 21th and 26th instant were as follows:-On: 24th i Eastern Shed, 53;585; Western Shed, $2,5641, 52.18 On 25th: Eastern Shed, $3,100; Wes Wongska Shad, Sa,zto; and Hooam Shed, tern Shed, 5,040; Wongiba Shed, 11,363 and Hopam Shed, $1,598. In addition to the above figures, about $80,000 worth of rice were sold during the two days to the villagers who came to Cantou for supplies of the grain.
