The trustees of the Baronto Memorial bequest nt Lab0,000 have approved" of plans for the rrection of a hospital for the treatment of can rer patients and for cancer research in connec tion with the Cancer Charity of the Middleurx Hospital. In his will, Mr. Harry Barnsto left a quarter of a million sterling. for the purpose of founding some hospital charity in memory of his brother, Mr. Barney Barnato, and his ne phew, Mr. Woolf Joel, both of whom predeceas- od blm The trustees. Messrs. S. B Joel, J. B. foel, and S. G. Asher, Invited the co-operation as a committas of Prince Francia, of: Teck, Lard Cheylesmote, Sir John Purcell, and Mr. Felix Davies. Another Important block will be the Cancer Research Department, which will stand on the | east side of the "old Cancer Wing. It is des signed to provide rooms and laboratories for the director and his principal assistants, ASIATIC POSTAGE STAMPS and there will be a large general laboratory, in which lecturas can be delivered. Provi. |sion is also made for physical research and bacteriology with a library and rooms for the reglatrar and the house surgaon. All the old buildings on the new site have been cleared away, and coosiderable open spacer are pro- vided for around the new buildings in order to secure an abundance of light and air. The new buildings will be of red brick and stone in the, | Repaissance style. They will be connected on the basement and gro ind floors by corridora to the Middlesex Hospital. The bulk of the bequest-roughly about $200,000-le to be in- vested for endowment of the new hospital, só that the cost of the bulidingi and equipment will be between £50,000 and £60,000. Now that the trustees have approved the plans the work will be proceeded with as early as possible, and it is hoped that it will be finished in about two years.
