The complainant stated that she left the Victoria Cinematograph shortly after eleven o'clock and met outside one of the defendants, who came up to her and engaged in converra tion with her, An altercation ensued, dar log which the defendant struck her on the eye and tore her dress. She asked the defen- dant why he had damaged her dress, when the latter ordered her to keep quiet and say no more about it. The other two defendants then came up and assaulted her and then attempted to escape. She screamed for the Police, who came upon the scene and arrested the defen- dants.

His Worship sentenced the first defendant

to one month's imprisonment, imposed a fine of Sto on the second defendant and awarded

three weeks to the third defendant.

On the 6th Inst; at 8 p.m., a man named Mok Ab Su, when passing by Ha Kow Po street, was killed, by another man at presen unknown. The victim was stabbed with a dagger op hir chest in several places. The reason, of the murderous assault is said to be on account of a dispute over money matters.

«CANTON'S FINANCES, The Kwanglong Provincial Financial In- spector, Song Shou Jing, has experienced con siderable difficulties in the carrying out of his commission owing to the alleged unnecessary interference from H. E. Viceroy YURD. The Financial Inspector has also, in auditing the accounts of the provincial Government, dis covered discrepancies in many items. He has accordingly sobmitted a memorial to the Im perial Government to denounce H. E. Yurs on this account.

CANTON CHRISTIAN COLLEGE.

A branch school of the Canton Christian College will be opened next Chinese year in the Westerasaburb of this city, where students will be admitted for training preparatory to entering that college.
