For the test we have no'question in dispute, our one desire being to continue in the future the old alliance which has in the past been so bighly prized by both peoples, which the visit of King Manuel and the cational welcome it bas evoked will do so much ta sirengthen both from a political and personal point of view. COMMERCIAL TREaty under NEGOTIATION, Politically, I can only repeat what | King. Manual has said, that it is almost impossible to improve our relations. With regard to com- mercial relations, I would emphasize his Ma- joy's remarks that there is room for improve. men'. In this connection I may say that wo are at this moment negotiating a treaty of com merce, the conclusion of which will, I trust, supply what is lacking.
