Through the courtesy of Messrs. Jardine, Matheson and Co., Ltd., wo have received a copy of a guide to the Far East published in the interests of the "Shire" lins`of steamers for whom J. M. & Co. are the local agents. It will bo remembered that some time ago we wrote regarding the cheap rates which the "Shire" line was offering passengers from Hongkong to England and vice versa. This admizable little brochure points out the advantages of a trip. to the Orient and gives the intending traveller some idea of what he will see en route. Ii ulso gives notes regarding distances, differences of time, the rates of exchange (the Hongkong dollar is put at 1 rod which is probably near enough) and other general information. It is fully illustrated and displays to advantage the enterprise of the "Shire" line.
