The Chinese, on the other hand, refuse to ad- mit in toto the force of the claims as based upon the grounds put forward by the Portugue From the point of view of International law, it will be most interesting to learn the verdict of the eminent jurists who may be called upon to adjudicate the differences at issue in a board of arbitration assuming that no modus vivendi can be amicably reached in Peking.
