OPIUM DEALER ARRESTED. '
Yesterday, a man was arrested at the railway Mation at Wangaha by an officer of the Canton Government Anti-opium Bureau for being in possession of four opium bills which be par- chased from a native opium dealer without first obtaining a triplicate permit from the Bureau. The man has been handed to the| Namboi Magistrate to be dealt with.

THE Medical Officer of the City of London recently reported that he has inspected 200 quarters of Chinese beef at the cold storage in Upper Thamas-streek. It proved to be sound, but of inferior quality. It is anderstood that the beef will be exported to Russia. The Medical Officer adds that the examination of the consignment of Chinese pork continues to be made. Up to Nov. 5 the total number of carcases is 3,431, of which 180, or 7.3 per cent., has been condemned as unft for food.
