SERIOUS ALLEGATIT s against a EURCIBAN,
An inquest was held at Ipoh, on August 16, by Mr. Langaton on the cause of the death of a Chloess coolle named Ng' Hol ̧ who died at Ulu Pish Mine on August 18.
In the course of his evidence, Chen Hong, a mining coolja working at Ulu jab, Tambon, said that on August 23 they were cogaged, in removing machinery, under the supervision of M. "A European, Mr. McDonald, gave some orders which witness did not understand, and then snatched the stick from "deceased and kicked him in the abomeo and pushed him on the chest, koocking him off the plat farm into the fille box. Deceased fell on his right side. He got up immediately afterwards and started walking with great difficulty, hold ing himself with both hands-one in front and one.behind-towards the kongai. He walked about two hundred paces and fell down, Subsequently, he learned, tho’man was dead.
By Mr. McDonald : Tijere were two or three other coolies present besides toose from my ongs! They were on the ground under the platform.
Other witnesses, Chinese, who were work ing at the same place, were.called and gave.

Alexander Evan Charles McDonald stated in the course of his evidence: We were in the act of loading a part of a winch off a platform inio bullock cart by sliding it down planks, We had a tail rope attached to it in caso it should slide down too fast, A Chiraman was
on each side of the drum to keep it from sliding off the planks The deceased was standing on The platforms about two or three feet from the edge. He had a lever which was wedged in between the cog wheel and the drum to keep it from rolling. Iwas afraid that if the drum. went down too quickly the level would carry him dows also. So I put my hand on the F. BLACKHEAD & Co., other side. He did not seem to understand, so stick and naked him to come round on the

1 motioned him to do so, and ju so doing I touched him with one hard, in the other band I held the stick. The deceased was standing slightly behind me at the time. He let go the lever and stepped back pulting one foot on the top rung of the ladder and then fell back. wards. I am of opinion that he fell on the ground at the side of the prlong and then rolled into the palong. I watched him get up and walk away down the palong. We did oot stop work but finish the load, and then 16 hours wont to breakfast and shortly after the watch. man came and said the deceased was either dead or dying half way between the place where we had been working and the, koogii. 1 im médiately went to see and fouad, he was dead and had hith removed into an old kongsi alonge side. I afterwards went to Tamban and reported the matter. I handed in a written .repart.
The senior apothecary at the Ipoh district hospital, said he examined the body, but found no external marks of violence whatever. The spleen was more than twice its average longth and more than eight times its average weight, He considered that owing to the condition the spleen war in any alight blow or fall might have caused the rupture. The costurion" of the tissues might have beeg coused by a kick le the abdomen without leaving any external marks of violsace.
The inquest was postponed as Mr. McDonald [wished to call more evidence.-Straits Times;
