WHITAKER WRIGHT HOME SOLD TO LORD PIRRIE.

The notorious Whitaker Wright case is re- called by the purchase by Lord Pirria of Lea Park, the magnificent estate .on which the financier lived at Willey, Surrey.

Lord Pirrie is the well-known shipbuilder and one of the organisers of the Atlantic ship ping combine.

The sale includes 1,500 acres of lind adj vin- ing the property of the Earl of Derby.

The price paid by Lord Pirrie'is not known, but it may be stated that when the estate came under the bammer in the summer of 1904 the property was withdrawo when the bidding had reached £145,hoo. The auctioneer had sug gested an opening bid of £100,000,
