REMAREADÈS RESULT OF AN INVESTIGATION. As the recent case in the Kobe Saibaasho shows, the piracy of foreign trade-marks ip Japan still proceeds, and it is satisfactory to find that the judiciary is beginning to take serious view of the offence. The firm of Thomas Hubbuck & Co Londen, well-known manu facturers of paints and olfe, have had some trouble in the past through their trade-marks be ing pirated in Japan, and as the representative of this firm was in Kobo recently, a member of the Japan Chronicle staff had an interview with him, it being understood that he was in Japan investigating some recent trade-mark piracies. We learn from Mesars. Hubbuck's representative that during his investigations, extending over several weeks, soms remarkable disclosures have been brought to light in connection with the piracy in Japan of the Loaded firm's trade marks. We have been shown the correspond- ence in the matter, which, however, pending consultation with the directors of the company, Messrs. Hubbuck's representative 'does, no! wish published for the present. The particu. lar case of piracy to which we refer is a very serious one, and we regret to say that, so far as Article 9-The President shall be elected by the evidence goes, the officials of a certain Gothe assembly of delegates and chosen from -vernment, department are involved, if pot im amongst them without distinction of nationality.

Last evening the representativo.of Messrs. Hubbuck and Son left for Tokyo to have s further interview on the matter with Sir Claude MacDonald, the British Ambassador, alter which he will proceed to London to lay the whole facts before the company. We are given to understand that great pressure is being brought to bear apon Messrs. Blubbuck's re- presentative not to publicly disclose the result of his Investigations in Japan, but in the interests of honest dealers it is to be hoped that a full exposure of the fraud, will be made, for we are sure that the Japanese Governnient ir no party to the incident of which complaint is made, The greater publicity that is given to the dis- covery of such frauds, the more likely is it that the practices will be suppressed.
