An extraordinary story was told by the mas for of one of the Macao steamers regarding a › floating mine, which, if existani, is presumably a remnant of the Rutio-Japanese War.
According to his report, which has been mitted to the shipping authorities, it appears that while on the run to Hongkong yesterday he sighted a floating mine, just between Dum- bell Island and Green Island, about a mile and a half from the shore.
It was impossible for him to take any steps to remove the obstruction, but it is to be hoped that such a menace to shipping generally will be removed as soon as possible, WA
