A most brozen attempt to rob a school boy. Chan Kam, of his pocket money was made at West Poist yesterday afternoon by a coolie named Leung Mo Kau (since convicted)." Chan. SERIOUS ASSAULT ON A LUKONG.

AT WEST POINT.

Yesterday morning, Mr. F. A. Hazeland (second polica magistrate) convicted a coolie named Yeung Yau and sentenced him to six hours' stucks for robbing a money-changer at West Point on the day previous of a bundle of cant pieces which he found lying on the counter. On the way to No. 7 Police Station, in charge of a luhong, where he was to be exposed, in the, stocks, Yenng somehow or an other managed to slip one band from the band. cuffs, and immediately set upon the policeman. He struck the policeman with the left hand, on which dangled the wristlet, inflicting a pasty wound over the right eye.. The officer bad to be taken to hospital where three stitches had to be laken in the wound. The prisoner escaped, but was re-captured later. Ha com pleted the stacks sentence, and this morning re-appeared on a charge of assault, before Mr. Hartland, who took a serious view of the case and sentenced accured to an extra ferm, of six weeks' hard labour. He will suffer another six hours in the stocks after the sentences atc completed.
