On the rst instant the Japanese Consul al Canton forwarded a despatch to the Viceray: in which the Consul'stated that he was pleased to note that the Japanese boycott was gradually abating, and, that he begged to express bis thanks to the Viceroy for having given instruc tions to suppress the boycott movement. How aver, the Consul was sorry to point out that the boycott against Japanese goods is still persist- ed in by Chinese in other countries especially in the Straits Settlements and in America. The

ROBBERY,

Day before yesterday the workmen's quarters on the 7th section of the Canton-Hankow Rail- way in Ching Yuen district were attacked by a sumber of robbers. The workmen fought against their enemies with all their might, and as the workmen were in greater numbers they nitimately secured the arrest of two of the

robbers.
