THE EXPEDITION TO`ZBET.

ITS COST TO INDIA

A return, was issued on 24th alt, as to the cost of the military operations undertaken the Indian frontiers and elsewhere between 1899 and 1908. For the mission to Tibet 5,300 troops were employed, and the approximate On the Ades Cont 'was' 15,046,000 rupees. Boundry Commission 9,500 troops were em-` ployed, at a cost of 6,429,000 rupees.

The question of a contribution by the British Treasury towards the cost of the Com mission is still under consideration.

On the 30th at 140 a-The depression is moving away over the Pacific to the E, of Japan, and pressure has increased considerably over, S. Japan and Loochook.

The barometer has fallen moderately over Central and Northern China and the highest pressure is now shown over the Yellow Sex

Gradients are less steep in the South and the monsoon will probably moderate in the Formosa Chancel and the N. part of the China Sex...
