A large floating orane, built by Messrs. Co- wans, Sheldon, and Company, Limited, of Signal Carlisle, has just recently been delivered to the Kawasaki Dockyard, Japan, where it has been successfully tested with a load of 185 2008.. The jible fitted with two lifts-namely, for 150 tons at 85 feet maximum radius and 29 tons at 96 feet radius, and can be worked at 26 feet radius. The motion is effected by a pair of heavy steal screws connected to the back of the cantilever, and driven from a pair of horizontal steam engines situated in the hold of the barge. The framework of the crane is of braced form and of steelwork throughout; the height from water-level to jib-head pully at moximum radius in go fast. The barge was built by Masses. Danny Brothers, Dumbarton. It is 400 feet Hong, 70 wide, and 12 fest deep, and of steel constraction throughout. The barge in fitted with alt "necessary capstans and fairleads, and
