SOCIETY TAKES UP WEIRD ASSYRIAN FAKIR

In the days of old Ramanos. This story and pareils ? Are you on, sia you On Are you ON!

➡KIPLING

The Antediluvinu and Extraordinary Order ‚of the Oos-a new and staggering Society craze held a very special meeting in a private room of the Royal Palace Hotel, Kenslegton, yester day (26th Nov.) aftomacon. Admission was seven and sixpence par head, including tea and bread and butter, jam, and Mysticism. Several titled ladies, and at least one countess, were present; and to see that all was fair and proper a real clergyman of the Church of England was Accommodated with a seat on a gilt-edged chair in a far corner of the room. The rever end gentleman looked rather scared—but it' was all right in the end; and never a' blush mantled his pink cheeks. From time to time, however, he wiped his spectacles and gasped!

The special attraction which called togerber this tremendously fashionable assembly of the Cos was the first of a series of lectures by His Magnificence, Iba Chatir, Assyrian Fakir and High Adept," who was announced: by the Lady Secretary as the newest Mystic with a Mission.

And "We are all going On!" she cried,

CLOTTED NONSENSE.

What on earth he meant nobody could poss sibly understand. He had a blackboard by him, a big bath sponge and a small jawel on a chair, and a pound and a ball of chalk to his hand. The elect thought possibly he was going to perform conjuring tricks with thei useful household articles, and everybody.sat up and looked as cheerfully interested as the

developments. A Fakir can do anything he might have swallowed the sponge and mate- rialised a full-sized wash-hand basin out of his ear, or turned the'chalk into choose--or a few trifles like that, which a Fakir can do on his head with the utmost ease, and very little inconvenience to the ladies and gentlemen
