TANJONG PAGAR BOARD,
ADMINISTRATION REPORT FOR
THE PAST HALF-YEAR.
The administration report of the Tanjong Pagar Jock Board for the year coding June 30 was published on October 19.
After the notice convening the meeting had been read, the Chairman said:-Gentlemen,- The report and accounts bave now been in your hands for some days and I ask your per mission to adopt the customary course and take them se reid. The result of the year's 3., It is prohibited to import foreign sub- working bas, I am pleased to say, proved satis-sidiary coins quer the amount of Yen 3. (This factory, showing an increase on the preceding clause bas been in force previously.)
We again had some nazious weeks, your. early in the year during which our old enemy rinderpest played havoc with a part of our beid. Thanks, however, to our manager's ex- perience and vigilance, many valuable beasts were successfully sursed and recovered from the disease.
These animals, 1, might state, are immune for life from rinderpest. Our bu siness, notwithstanding the depressed condition of trade throughout the Colony, is ever increas. ing, not only in Hongkong itaall but with out ports, from which it may beinferred wagiva antis faction to our customers. I do pol think it would be out of place here for me to state that wo attempt to supply the best that can be produc ed, and in regard to our milk we guarantee that no preservative of whatever kind has ever bean used by us. Considering the large distribution and the area over which this distribution takes it is a matter of satisfaction to place, directors and staff that irregularity of delivery is practically non-existent. Our frozen meat business has also increased, not so much in regard to Incal consumption, owing no doubt to the antagonism of the native servants who see the possibility of loss of "squeere," but particu. Tatly in connection with the large passenger steamship lines, who find our supplies of a better quality and more economical than the local meal. Os comparing the balance sheet with that of last year you will have noted the book values of cattle, buildings, property and machinery have advanced considerably. These advances have been due to outlays in improvements and expansion which were necessary owing to ia- crease of business. The book values referred to are well within their actual values so that your directors have not deemed it necessary this year to set aside soy portion of the profit shown towards their reduction, but recommend --instead, the transfer al £40,000 to reserve, to be eventually merged into capital as outlined in the circular letter already sent out to share. holders. This matter will be more fully dealt with at another meeting, notification, of which will be forwarded to you in a few days, Helore. proposing the adoption, of the report and ác counts I shall be pleased to answer to the best of my ability any questions shareholders may wish to put regarding same.
There being no questions asked, the Chair man proposed the adoption of the report and
accounts.
In seconding the motion, Mr. Graham said that there could be no doubt that the company was ably managed, and great credit was reflect ed on all concerned.--Carried,
Mr. Machado proposed the re-election of Dr. Noble and the Hon. Mr. E. Osborne to the directorate.
Mr. Walker seconded. Carried.
The auditar-Me. W. Hutton Polls-was re- elected on the motion of Mr. Tester, seconded by Mr. Chau Tong.
That concluded the business of the meeting. Dividend warrants will be ready to-morrow..

**That China is proving bør genuine detar-
