The Opium Question. -
LONDON, 9th October. The report of Mr. Stephen Luck, Coun cillor of Legation at Peking, on the Opium question, has been printed in a White Book. which has been issued on the subject.
In it he lays emphasis on the continued coorgy of the Chinese Government towards ," the suppressión of the trade, but remarks on the apathy of the provincial officials, to which, however, there are some notable exceptions, The growing force of public opinion sup ports the Government.
