The fourth meeting of the Gymkhana Club At Glasgow, yesterday, hundreds of un-was held at the Happy Valley on Saturday employed brake into the Town Hall during afternoon. 5th September. The Times says that the appointment of Mr. Kalo to the Japanese Embassy in l'on- don has been received with lively satisfaction in England, 'and' recalls the fact that when formerly Japanese Muister in London he laid the foundation of that mutual goodwill which later-bore fruit.

The Times commends Japan's statesman- like policy of financial retrenchment and' distribution of armuments over eleven years, which, it says, should allay the fear of disturb ancer in the Pacific.

3.5. Dunearn first reported by Reuter:-A rumour was current in Nagasaki on Friday. afternoon that a British steamship had founder- ed off the Gotos byt no confirmation could ba obtained locally. The third officer, who was one of the sur vivors, gave an account of the disaster and the folowing admmary has beco placed at our disposal:-
