GOLD RINGS STOLEN.

THIEF WELL PUNISHED,

A few days ago Mrs. Hobbs, who resides at 1, Ormsby Villa, Kowloon, lost two gold sings from her house. The rings she valued at $90. A report was made to the Trim-isa-taui Palice, with the result that a descripting of the ring was given to all pawnbrakers, with instructions to detain the person offering them in pawo. This had the desired effect, for yesterday a coolis named Chan Hoi was handed over to

saying that he had found the rings. The police beheved, however, that while Chao was visiting some of the lady's servants be sucaked uo to her room during her absence and stole he rings. Accused wis charged in the Police Court, to-day, and sentenced to six months' hard labour.

But it cannot have been Sir S. So it couldn't have been him.
