OWN ADRIBALIA'S FLAG."""
THE RIKU DECIDES THE ARMS FOR THE COMMONWEALTIL
The confusion which has for some time past Exlited us to the correct coat of arms of the
• Commonwealth of Australia, has now been. overcomed. By a Royal Warrant da'ed the 7th olt, the King has granted arms for the Com monwealth, of which the following in the offi cial description or "blazon":-
"Azure on an inescutcheon Argent upon the Cross, of St. George cattived of the Beld five
six-pointed stars of the second (representing the Constellation of the Southern Cross) all within an orla of inescutcheous of the second, Bach charged with a chevron gules," Crest: On a wreath of the colours. "A Seven-point. ed: Star" Or". Supporters: "On a comparti mant of grass to the dexter a Kangaroo, to the sinister an Emu, both proper." Melto: "Ad- vanco, Australiz”
The colours are these of the Union flag, and the six smaller shinids or "inescutchtons" stand for the six States of which the Common- wealth is composed. A bandsome carving of the shield of arms will is due course appear upon the Victorian memorial at Buckingham
Palace.
