Herein, then, probably lies the principal ex planation of the disaster, contributed as it might have been by the treacherous nature of the tide around that particular point which invests Davigation in and out of the harbour by the north-western entrance one of extreme difficulty.

THE RESCUE.

The various stories of the rescue effected by the Kam. Sun and the three river steamers -the San Cheung, Kwong Tung and Kin- shan-bear out in their essential details the accuracy of our first, report. We have, how ever, to add that the fishing" junks in the vicinity on the night of the wreck also assisted in the hum initarian work. It is worthy of remark that when Capt. Black, of the Powán, boarded the Kimikan no, that fateful night be had the hospitable services of a fishing boat.
